Friends
of the Farm River Estuary,
Inc. (FFRE pronounced
Free) was formed by local citizens
to have a voice in determining
the estuary's future. Our mission
is to facilitate access to,
and environmentally sound use
of, the lower Farm River watershed
through collaboration, outreach
and education.
Our primary
focus is on the Riparian Corridor
from the mouth of the river
to U.S. Route 1, including the
floodplains and wetlands connected
directly to the river, and areas
near the Riparian Corridor that
have been or could be permanently
protected. We also strive to
have an influence on the use
of the upper river and the larger
watershed, especially where
detritus and overland runoff
pose a threat.
FFRE currently
has about 150 contributing members.
Management is vested in a Board
of Directors, which is responsible
for overall policy and direction.
Responsibility for day-to-day
activities is delegated to the
President and committees. Advisory
board members lend their specialized
professional knowledge to advise
the Board.
Meetings
are held the 4th Tuesday of the month.
Everyone is encouraged to attend!
