River State Park Community
Boating Program
Quinnipiac
University, through a management
agreement with the State of
Connecticut, Department of Environ-mental
Protection (DEP), is establishing
public access to a limited number
of seasonal passes. This access
will allow car top canoe and
kayak launching at the Mansfield
Landing site at Farm River State
Park. The goal of this program
is to enhance public access
to Long Island Sound and its
waterways, and to facilitate
public recreation of local residents.

Year
We
very much regret having to cancel
this year's Art Exhibit scheduled
for June 6th, 7th, and 8th,
2008 at the Shoreline Trolley
Museum.
We

of April 22nd Meeting
Attendance:

The
minutes from the February meeting
were read and accepted with
corrections.
Laura Magaraci from the Farm
River Coalition of North Branford
presented a report on the status
of a proposed Northford development
along the Farm River. The Farm
River Coalition is opposing
the development. She encouraged
FFRE members to attend a public
meeting to be held 4/23/08.
Chris
Peterson reported on the autumn
River Cleanup Project with RWA.
He presented the idea of a collaborative
effort between the many Farm
River environmental and educational
groups to adopt parts of the
river and estuary for the cleanup.
He will initiate discussions
with these groups.
Chris
Collins reported on the Branford
Land Trust's 40th Anniversary
events.
Eve
Perkins reported on the FFRE
Art Exhibit committee's progress
on organizing the event. Secured
the Trolley Museum as a venue
and discussed next steps for
the committee and the need for
volunteers to help with the
event. However, the event has
been cancelled this year and
the committee is notifying those
who have received the announcement
and invitation.
There
was discussion about the FFRE
membership campaign. Dona Wohlert
and Chris Peterson to collaborate
on this.
About
an hour was spent by the attendees
collating the FFRE newsletter
and art exhibit brochures. Several
people volunteered to hand deliver
it on specific streets in Branford
and East Haven. The remaining
are to be mailed.
